I think there might be a bug in the script on the server.
Did you try running your local tools/checkpatch.sh ?
It seems the line ...
$line = "$prefix$_[0]: $_[2]\n";
... fails. 'prefix' is probably not initialized (?)
Try moving the line ...
my $prefix = '';
... to the top of the file (it's not very useful at line 1243 anyway)
