Hi Paul. I would say "go for it!". I think it's better to get it corrected early, because it'd be a nag for a long time otherwise. This basically goes for all kinds of bugs.
Personally I hate that the GNU assembler is not bug-fixed, because of fear of making it incompatible. As for my own development, I fix bugs and make things consistent (as I know that inconsistency may introduce further bugs later on too, plus sometimes large work-arounds).
