Hi Tim, Basically some openocd user needs to test it and give a +1 and then an OpenOCD developer need to verify the code quality and also give +1 or propose some modification to your patch.
After the corrections and he giving a +1 in the gerrit review the patch is incorporated. OpenOCD is a very important project for embedded system solutions, but I suspect that nobody here receive to work in the project. Normally people/companies only realize the importance of some projects when something really bad happen, like the openssl and heartbleed event.
