I ran into the same problem.

Turns out that you must have the same version of the FTDI driver
installed as the CDM installation.  That is, the DLL version hanging
out in your \Windows\system32 (I think that's the directory) must be
the same version.

The configure script builds a test program that tries to retrieve the
driver version.  If the DLL installed on the system is different than
that used to link the test program, it segfaults and the script fails.
 So you're choices are:

1)  Upgrade your FTDI installation.
2)  Change your OpenOCD build to use a CDM the same version as your
FTDI version.

What I did, and probably shouldn't be replicated, is to copy the CDM
files over to \Windows\system32 and \Windows\system32\drivers
manually.  That forced the correct version of the DLL to load when the
configure script runs, fixing the issue.

Works like a dream now for me.
