This patch was some left over work from an old Dick Hollonbeck patch to xsvf.c and as such is a bit decoupled from that other post you made. Ref. your other post the big question I asked myself was why you wanted to make these changes? What was the goal? I can think of several reasons to do something along those lines, but I wondered what in your mind the reasons for doing them were.
