I have been thinking about these problems, and my solution would be to
introduce a README.Linux, paralleling the README.{CygWin,MinGW32} files
that I suggested in another thread.  This will help simplify the main
README to its platform-neutral essence, with host-specific tips in
ancillary files.  That will come after 0.2.0, though.
