I have had similar problems in our company's bootloader with an
Intel/Numonyx part (IIRC P30 series, which had similar issues after the
65nm die shrink, but not on the older chips), so it might be necessary
to use commandset-cpecific reset commands in all cases after the chip is
detected.
I was planning on that as it is a better solution, add that to the list :)
