I have seen this "STICKY ERROR" when the communication
frequency was borderline.

I've seen communication robust at 1MHz, but failing outright at
8MHz, so you may have a situation where there is a *large*
twilight zone where strange things happen occasionally.

What I do sometimes is to try with lowest possible frequency and
then workmyself up. Run tests lots of times...

# start with low frequency, then double it until the test below fails.
# you can then figure out what frequency is the highest stable
# stick to half of that frequency to be sure...
for {set i 0} {$i < 100} {set i [expr $i+1]} {
# some test here, reset init being the minimal test
reset init
}
