Welcome, everyone to the July 2016 Open Organization Ambassadors Report!

July was an excellent and successful month for the Open Organization
community at Opensource.com. Our content generated 12,790 page views
and, in all, we published nine total articles from seven unique authors.
Only one-third of those authors were affiliated with Red Hat. We also
welcomed our newest Open Organization ambassador, Allison Matlack from
Red Hat, to the group.

Open Organization ambassadors Rebecca Fernandez, Laura Hilliger, and
Jono Bacon will join DeLisa Alexander of Red Hat for a presentation at
the upcoming All Things Open conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. The
group will tackle the critical topic of inclusive decision-making in
organizations today.

On July 21, we hosted our monthly #OpenOrgChat on Twitter. The chat saw
392 tweets from 56 total contributors, as well as 827,003 timeline
deliveries. We had a reach of 123,872. Interestingly, this month the
chat continued well beyond our schedule time period, as the community
gathered to continue the conversation even after moderators had departed
the chat. This meant our chat eventually saw 481 tweets from 95 total
contributors and 1,144,207 timeline deliveries. It had an eventual reach
of 282,732.

                                -=-

In July we welcomed our newest Open Organization ambassador, Allison
Matlack of Red Hat, to the group. Allison joins us after serving as an
invaluable community participant, contributing writer, and interlocutor
since the launch of the Open Organization channel on Opensource.com, and
we're thrilled to have her join us in this new role.

Our August #OpenOrgChat on Twitter will concern "Open Organizations'
Greatest Challanges," and will occur on August 25 at 14:00 Eastern /

see you there, too.

We just launched the print edition of _The Open Organization Field
Guide_ [2]! Originally released as a download-only eBook in December
2015, the _Field Guide_ now joins _Catalyst-In-Chief_ as a physical
companion to _The Open Organization_. And it features many essays from
ambassadors!

You can use this shortlink to help us promote the guide in August:

Allison Matlack writes:

"I recently caught up with an old friend of mine, Sarah Prince. She and
her husband moved to a township outside Cape Town, South Africa, several
years ago. She's helping out in a community church [1], and her husband
is running a successful soccer program for at-risk youth [2].

She told me her husband and the church leaders both had communities of
passionate people that they struggled to fully engage. She said the
things we're doing via The Open Org were exactly what they needed. So I
brought her to the office and gave her an armload of the books and
stickers that you all kindly provided me. I printed out a few copies of
the community version of the Open Decision Framework and also sent her
links to that and to Jim's Summit '16 keynote, which I think captures
the spirit of what we're doing.

I told her the only condition was that she write about what they thought
about all of this stuff and how it affects them. She's all in!"

Laura Hilliger writes:

My colleagues and I at the We Are Open Co-op [1] wrapped up a couple of
pitches in the last few weeks and are winding down for summer holidays.
We'll still be checking emails though, so get in touch for help thinking
through implementing educational initiatives and/or open practices in
your organization.

At Greenpeace, I used the Open Decision Framework to win support for
running a large project as openly as possible. The excitement and
fortitude my Greenpeace colleagues are now showing, despite initial
fears, has me super happy and excited. Follow the project, share the
open source love, become a contributor and help Greenpeace.org become a
kick ass engagement platform [2].
