Welcome to the September 2016 Open Organization Ambassadors Report!
September was an exciting month for the open organization community at
Opensource.com. We published 11 new articles about the future of work,
management, and leadership; held our ninth #OpenOrgChat of the 2016
season; conducted a live webcast; and prepared to host members of our
ambassador community in person at the upcoming All Things Open
conference in Raleigh.
We're so grateful to be part of such a vibrant, enthusiastic, and
dedicated community, and we look forward to seeing you (!) soon.

Bryan

On September 27, we helped coordinate a live webcast featuring a
conversation between Jackie Yeaney of Red Hat and Tony Laffoley of the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business
School. The pair discussed ways leaders can build open organizations to
encourage cultures of innovation. More than 500 people registered for
the event, and roughly 150 attended. The webcast is now available for
on-demand playback [1].

Our September #OpenOrgChat on "Open Organizations and Accountability"
produced 289 tweets from 31 contributors, and saw 523,628 timeline
deliveries. We had a reach of 54,755. In October, we will host "OpenOrg
+ DevOps," which brings these two like-minded communities together.

We've begun planning an in-person meeting of open organization
ambassadors at All Things Open in Raleigh next month. We'll gather a
significant number of community members together for a workshop aimed at
refining our collective mission and determining projects on which we'll
collaborate during the coming year. More on this below.

#### {5} Looking Ahead ####

Our next live ambassadors call will occur Thursday, October 13 at 10:00
Eastern / 14:00 UTC. If you haven't already done so, please do take a
moment to review the agenda and add items you'd like to discuss [1].

As we mentioned above, the October #OpenOrgChat will bring the OpenOrg
and DevOps communities together for discussion of the values we share
and the partnerships we might form as the nature of work (especially in
IT) changes rapidly. That chat occurs on Thursday, October 20, 14:00
Eastern / 18:00 UTC. You'll find more details at Opensource.com [2].

Because a significant number of ambassadors have planned to attend All
Things Open in Raleigh, NC, in October, we've decided to host an
in-person community meeting, and we really couldn't be more pumped.
Thanks to some quick and expert planning with Brook Manville, we've
constructed a plan for an afternoon workshop aimed at improving our
community—refining our mission, identifying shared goals, articulating
projects for the coming year—and put it online for review, commentary,
and revision. If you're planning to attend, please do have a look and
add your notes and suggestions [3].

Laura Hilliger writes:
In September, I led a workshop for the Greenpeace Global Engagement
Department, prepped and participated in a We Are Open Thinkathon with
Creative Commons [1], started leading the Content Strategy and Story
group for the Discovery Phase [2] of Greenpeace.org [3], worked on some
acquisitions for the We Are Open Coop [4], and painted the four-meter
walls and ceiling of my awesome new office (which, by the way is another
a co-op) [5]. There was some other stuff too, like getting excited about
next month's All Things Open. The best way to learn more about me and my
eclectic work life is to sign up for my newsletter [6].
