Hello, friends, and welcome to the October edition of the open
organization ambassadors report!

October was a stellar and certainly memorable month for the open
organization community at Opensource.com.

Our content generated 16,742 page views, our second-best month since
launching the channel in May last year. Additionally, we added 153 new
followers on Twitter, and conducted our tenth #OpenOrgChat event on the
platform, which brought together the OpenOrg and DevOps communities.

What's more, several ambassadors visited Raleigh for the All Things Open
conference in October. More on this in the newsletter below.

Thanks to everyone for making our community so vibrant and inspiring.
We're looking forward to another wonderful month in November.

Bryan & Jason

Several open organization ambassadors visited Raleigh for the All Things
Open conference in October. As part of the event, they convened a
special half-day working session to review their accomplishments,
discuss community mission and vision, and set new priorities. Chad
Whitacre reflected on the event in a post on GitHub [1], and Bryan
Behrenshausen offered a summary for the community on its mailing list
[2]. Also at the conference, ambassadors sat on widely-attended panels,
gave talks, emceed, and introduced open-minded newcomers to the
principles of open organization.

In October we hosted a Twitter chat that brought the OpenOrg and DevOps
communities together for a conversation about organizational culture.
The chat generated 254 tweets from 31 contributors, and saw 613,806
timeline deliveries. It had a reach of 172,361.

Jason Hibbets and Bryan Behrenshausen assisted Jim Whitehurst with a
book signing at All Things Open. The signing occurred after Jim
delivered a keynote presentation at the conference in Raleigh. Twenty
attendees received complimentary copies of _The Open Organization_.

We just announced our next live open organization webcast, which will
occur on November 15 at 16:00 Eastern / 20:00 UTC. Jackie Yeaney of Red
Hat will join Charlie Brown of Context Partners for a conversation about
the future of (network-based and community-powered) marketing in an open
world [1]. Please do attend!

Our next #OpenOrgChat on Twitter will occur Thursday, December 1 at
14:00 Eastern / 18:00 UTC. Thanksgiving in the U.S. disrupts our
regularly-scheduled programming this month, so we've decided to hold our
next gathering on the first Thursday in December. The topic will be
"Open Organization Year in Review," where we'll reflect on everything
we've learned in 2016. We really want this one to be a party, so invite
everyone and anyone you'd like to join us!
