Welcome, everyone, to the September 2017 Open Organization Ambassadors
Report! September was a busy month for the open organization community
at Opensource.com—so read on to catch up with your fellow ambassadors
and learn about our exciting plans for October.

In September, we published 8 new articles about open organizational
culture and design, and overall our content generated 13,880 page views.
Open Organization Ambassadors contributed half the new articles we
published in September. The community also released a new book: An
illustrated version of The Open Organization Definition, which is now
available in paperback.

As this community grows from strength to strength, we remain proud and
humbled to remain part of it. We wish everyone a fantastic month ahead.

The open organization community published a new book in September: An
illustrated version of the ambassadors' official Open Organization
Definition [1]. The full-color book is available for purchase (at cost)
in paperback form from partner Lulu. An eBook version of the book will
follow in October.

The Open Organization Workbook project completed its second phase of
development in September. Authors have prepared drafts of their proposed
chapters and are now working with the Opensource.com editorial team to
polish and prepare them for the December book launch [2].

We've begun publishing weekly "preview" material from the Workbook
project, too. In September, we published new case studies teams can
study to learn more about openness, as well as a few exercises they can
enact to practice open skills. We also published an open organization
crossword puzzle [3].

#### {5} Looking Ahead ####
###########################

Our next meeting of the Open Organization Ambassadors will occur October
12 at 10:00 Eastern / 14:00 UTC (we're back to our Thursday routine!).
An agenda is in progress; please add your discussion items [1].

In October, the Open Organization Workbook project enters "content
freeze," during which we'll firmly cement the table of contents and ask
all authors to submit first drafts of their work. We'll then begin
working closely with authors to revise and polish the articles they've
submitted [2].

And October can only mean one thing: It's time for All Things Open in
Raleigh! Ambassadors Jen Kelchner, Sam Knuth, and Chad Whitacre will
join DeLisa Alexander on stage for a panel session devoted to creating a
more transparent, collaborative and inclusive world.

Lauri Apple writes:

"I promoted the Maturity Model at SRECon, ShipItCon, German GitHub
Giants, and Write the Docs. Also the Awesome List [1] has 350 GitHub
stars now! I will speak at four more conferences in the next two months,
and will promote the Open Org Ambassadors work at all of those too."
