And here we are in 2019! Welcome to this month's Ambassadors Report.

Our community started the year on strong footing. We published seven new
articles and, in all, our materials generated 14,702 page views at
Opensource.com. Additionally, readers downloaded 395 copies of volumes
in the _Open Organization_ book series.

And best of all: The Open Organization Ambassadors welcomed the group's
newest member, Heather Leson, of Red Cross/Red Crescent!

Read on to bask in our accomplishments, see what the ambassadors are up
to, and prepare for February.

Editorially yours,
Bryan

In January, Heather Leson became the newest member of the Open
Organization Ambassadors community. Heather is Data Literacy Lead at
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and a
vocal proponent of open principles in non-profit, humanitarian
organizations.[1] She is a board member at the OpenStreetMap project,
and wrote about her community-building work there for the _Open
Organization Workbook_. Heather is based in Geneva, Switzerland and is
the 15th member of the Open Organization Ambassadors group.

The Open Organization Ambassadors have begun their 2019 planning and
prioritization.[2] Among the group's goals for the year: experimentation
with new modes of audience engagement; increased focus on open
organization materials for under-represented groups; and production of
smaller, non-book resources. The group will finalize its goals at its
February meeting and track them publicly on GitHub.

Planning for our community's presence at Red Hat Summit is underway. As
we await word of official speaking invitations and programming
decisions, we're brainstorming the best ways to ensure Summit attendees
understand the important role that organizational culture plays in
digital transformation initiatives. Hope to see you in Boston![3]

Jen Kelchner writes:

"I am presenting a hands-on workshop on Building Open Environments for
Collaboration at the Lausanne Global Workplace Forum in Manila in June.
In addition, they have asked me to build and lead a 'Learning Lab' that
will run for three days during the Forum. The lab environment will be a
'lean start-up + change readiness lab' hybrid. I will also be giving two
guest lectures at Fresno Pacific University on "Collaboration +
Learning" and "The future is built on [all things] Open" to an
International Business Management senior class over the next several weeks."

Ron McFarland writes:

"I'm working on a paper on alliances, but all the ideas are just a bunch
of pieces right now."

Michael Doyle writes:

"I'm sharpening my focus for the year, which is vague, but I feel that
underlying all the open values is communication. So I want to be looking
at content this year by helping our audience take action on better
communication practices that lead to instilling them with the values of
open. Right now I'm going back through all the published OpenOrg books
to extract what has already been said in this space."
