### Editor's Note ###

Greetings, folks—and a hearty "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" to the open organization
community! Four years ago this week, our wonderful community was born.
Jim Whitehurst's _The Open Organization_ was finding its way onto
bookshelves, and eager readers were beginning to assemble at
Opensource.com to share their reactions and discuss their perspectives.
Four years later, that conversation shows no signs of abating.

I hope you'll indulge me and a few other community members as we seize
the opportunity to reminisce a bit in today's retrospective piece.
Please enjoy, and feel free to leave your own reflections in the
comments or on our list.

And congratulations, once more, to a community that has achieved a
simply staggering amount in such relatively short order. Here's to
another four, forty, or four hundred!
