Trac have an upcoming anti-spam module 
(http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/SpamFilter) which would allow us to keep 
things open and public, while hopefully eliminating the annoying garbage 
being posted.

Alternatively, we could lock Trac down to require a login (HTTP 
basic-auth style), before a ticket can be opened. The spambots are 
actually opening new tickets, as well as posting spam to existing 
tickets. Just wait until they figure out how to modify Wiki pages.
