I just discovered "Open PBX". FIrst off thanks tothe people who set
this up. I've benwanting this to happen for a long time.

Wouldn't you know it? The first e-mail I randomly selected out of the
Mailman archie to read talked about two projects I wanted to do, way
back when

1) Using CPU timmer rather then a zaptel card
2) Using GNU Autotools.

Together these two mods alow OpenPBX to be ported. I'm looking at both
or either SOlaris 10 (Open Solaris) and Apples' Darwin. Both might
actually be a nicer platform for VOIP because of thier good real-time
scheduling abilities. What's the current status on these?

I also read about running as "non-root". In my opinion running a PBX
as
root as well just plain stupid. Good to see others agree.

Questions:

This is a "fork". Will code from Asterisk be flowing back into Open
PBX?
Does anyone know how this will work?
WHat version of * did Open PBX use as the baseline.

I intend to get this up an running in the next couple weeks possably
inside of a QEMU vertual machine if that can be made to work.
