1 of my clients wanted to get away from Asterisk (different prompts)
licensing as well as a better chance of getting changes made actually
included in the code base since they wouldn't permit a disclaimer. So far it
has worked fine for them. Given that it was just for a small office PBX
OpenPBX seemed a logical fit since they were already previously running
Asterisk and it was a rather easy migration versus moving to. Many of the
core changes in OpenPBX go unnoticed to them such as SQLite vs Berkley DB or
SpanDSP vs legacy dsp routines but as long as it worked everyone has been
happy. G729 support has been the only real drawback for them since there
isn't a viable option publicly available yet.

They haven't needed T38 or STUN but I'm sure as their needs grow they will
try some of the newer options that now are available include NConference
instead of Zaptel based MeetMe they use now.

It seems to really depend on what fits your needs best. I've heard good
things about FreeSwitch as well but tends to be more in the ITSP side of
things where the need is more a voip switch versus a pbx in a small office.
