Ok, I had to find out that the bootstrapping (from source and binary) only 
worked on a single machine due to the fact that uname -m gives the processor 
id on AIX .... So maybe too soon to post...

I now ported the openpkg rpm to AIX ppc (and ia64 partially).

I still have problems though because I need perl for automake/autoconf stuff 
and I cannot compile perl on AIX using the openpkg gcc properly :-(

As soon as I get again access to this machine I will post the issue.

BTW: We are basing the kolab server (see: kroupware.kde.org) entirely on 
openpkg for multiple reasons incl. portability)
