Sorry, I still do not know exactly your question. But the static linking
in OpenPKG affects only libraries _WITHIN_ OpenPKG, i.e. packages like
zlib or libxml provide only static libs. But it does not mean that we
statically link executables as a whole. They are still build against the
dynamic system libraries, of course.

No, although I do not know exactly the point you wanted to address,
Linux is not different when it comes to shared libraries.
