The "correct" solution is to modify the configure process to test
wether SCM_DEBUG_TYPING_STRICTNESS=1 is required or not depending
on the chosen compiler and architecture.

For this to work out we'd need to find out the exact failure mode,
but so far we just know that the full executable crashed...
