I've looked into this, and can't reproduce your failure. I read the source
code where these arguments are handled, and all looks well. I did a variety of
tests which all suceeded, but my most basic one was:

  sh openpkg-20030114-20030114.src.sh --prefix=/te --suid=root

Can you please specify what you are executing to arrive at a failure
condition, and possibly also include what the specific error you see is?
