Hi.

When i try e.g. 'cvs status' with a CVSROOT of ":ext:..." and
CVS_RSH=ssh, i get an output like:

cvs status: nothing known about `cvs server'
===================================================================
File: no file cvs server Status: Unknown

   Working revision: No entry for cvs server
   Repository revision: No revision control file

cvs status: nothing known about `--'
===================================================================
File: no file -- Status: Unknown

   Working revision: No entry for --
   Repository revision: No revision control file

cvs status: nothing known about `status'
===================================================================
File: no file status Status: Unknown

   Working revision: No entry for status
   Repository revision: No revision control file

Something similiar happens, when i try 'cvs -d /cvsroot/... status'
cvs status: nothing known about `status'
===================================================================
File: no file status Status: Unknown

   Working revision: No entry for status
   Repository revision: No revision control file

So, looks like the command is interpreted as file name.

Any idea ? Or do i need to debug this ?

Another issue. The zlib included in the cvs package is 1.2.1, which has a
security problem (according to www.zlib.org).
The cvs configure recommends to use --with-external-zlib, because i have
1.2.2 from CURRENT installed. Should this be the default (and cvs depend
on zlib) ?
