My first cuts at building python appeared to be successful, but all
dynamically loadable components that aren't pure python would fail on
routines that are in the core libpython.
khm, or eg: my python-rrdtool[2] package links with librrd.a and also
need to link with freetype, zlib and other dependancy libraries
(static linking problem...)
