This should be no longer needed with the latest "openssl" package as
I've switched it to using a local zlib copy as a DSO and hence the extra
dependencies should be gone.

I see no reason. %{l_prefix}/bin is in the $PATH during
build-time. Why do you need to pass an absolute path?
