Hmmmm... interesting. I cannot reproduce this in CURRENT (which has the
same version as STABLE currently): there is never a libexpat.{a,la}
installed for me (under FreeBSD). Perhaps this is related to your
particular platform (Solaris 8). I'll retry under this platform, but
this requires some time as our Solaris 8 box is not as fast as wished
and Subversion has many dependencies.
Ok, as I assumed: for some unknown reasons libexpat is installed in a
platform dependend way. Under Solaris 8 I got the file conflict now,
too. Ok, this is now fixed with subversion-1.4.0-20061030 in CURRENT.
Another one conflict between subversion and expat:

        file /openpkg/lib/libexpat.a from install of subversion-1.4.6-20080117
conflicts with file from package expat-2.0.1-20080101
        file /openpkg/lib/libexpat.la from install of subversion-1.4.6-20080117
conflicts with file from package expat-2.0.1-20080101

Ah, I see, Subversion includes APR and APR includes an Expat copy.
I tried to fix it now. Please retry with the latest version of
"subversion" package as of today.

Now OK.

P.S. Can you try to add mod_pyton into openpkg?
