Sorry all this confusion happened as I was following instructions given at [1], and some of them seemed obsolete. I wasn't following the openrisc mail-list from quite sometime so I might have missed any announcements about this change. Now, with instructions given at [2], I was able to build the binutils cleanly, without any need to override CFLAGS. Now I'm trying to build or1k-gcc next. Thanks to all for help. Also I think it would be good to remove [1] or mark it obsolete ?
