Tomcat is a servlet engine (something which runs servlets) which can be used
either as a standalone system or together with a web server like apache. It
implements the latest Servlet API and is officially supported by Sun. In fact,
Sun links to the tomact pages for a servlet api implementation.
In my opinion it is not as stable and easy to use as it should for production
environments, so people should use JSserv for now (although it supports "only"
the 2.0 API), but tomcat is definitely the future.
