Just for "fun", I wrote a performance test program that does exactly 
this. Here is the result I got (single-node system using TCP transport, 
no PBE, totally 18000 transactions):

OpenSAF 5.0: 971.5 transactions per second

OpenSAF 5.1.FC: 29.5 transactions per second

That is what I would call a performance regression! Note that due to the 
throttling we have introduced in OpenSAF 5.1.FC, the theoretical maximum 
is 33.3 transactions per second. No matter how much we optimize the code 
or how powerful the node is, we can never go beyond this limit. I knew 
already before I ran the test that the result would be close to this 
number...
