Currently the default SI assignment algorithm used by AvSv? does not equally
distribute the SIs protected by the SG across the available set of in-service
SUs. And the only way to have AvSv? equally distribute the protected SIs is to
use a special mode where the SG's member SUs are not ranked and the auto adjust
attribute is set to TRUE (even though auto adjust is not really supported).
But this is problematic on a number of fronts including:
- A user may want to have control over the ranks of the SUs and still have
AvSv? equally distribute the SIs. This is especially true for the N+M
redundancy model where it is common to want to rank the SUs to define the
preferred active and the preferred standby SUs.
- Overloading the meaning of the auto adjust attribute
The proposal of this enhancement is to make equal SI distribution the default
SI assignment algorithm instead of the current unequal SI distribution model as
this provides the best path forward from the user perspective.
