A pattern is that number of bytes sent for is sizeof(union msgtypes) instead of 
sizeof(msgX). This mean that the sent size is the max of all message types. So 
for instance a healthcheck callback message that I expected to be rather small 
message actually is 1440 bytes and because of that it gets fragmented by MDS 
and sent as two messages! sigh...
