The instructions for configuring AND enabling PBE are clearly documented.
Simply enabling PBE without configuring will not work.
Configuring consist of both building with --enable-imm-pbe and of
specifying the configuration file. The default configuration for imm
is 0PBE, the simplest configuration.
I think the current solution is ok.
But error reporting could be made more clear for the folowing cases:
1) Enabling PBE when no PBE file has been configured. This should
be caught by the imm validation logic. Thus enabling PBE should be
rejected and an explanatory error string appended to the rejection
of the ccbModify.
2) Enabling PBE when imm has not been built with --enable-imm-pbe
should (if feasible) also be caught by validation logic and the
ccb-modify rejected with an explanatory error string.
This ticket is mostly to cater to stressed testers than to serious
deployment situations. We have had no error reports from problems
in deployment.

I missed to change immnd.conf and uncomment IMMSV_PBE_FILE
This caused some very strange behavior
I can set saImmRepositoryInit to 1 (pbe process is not started)
$ sudo immcfg -a saImmRepositoryInit=1 safRdn=immManagement,safApp=safImmService
When I try to change saImmRepositoryInit to 2 again the command hangs:
$ sudo immcfg -a saImmRepositoryInit=2 safRdn=immManagement,safApp=safImmService
error - saImmOmCcbObjectModify_2 FAILED: SA_AIS_ERR_TRY_AGAIN (6)
error - immcfg command timed out (alarm)
In this case I get:
Sep 26 09:15:27 Vostro osafimmnd[15221]: NO Precheck of fevs message of type
<33> failed with ERROR:18
When I uncomment IMMSV_PBE_FILE in immnd.conf it works. Why can't
IMMSV_PBE_FILE have a default value in the code?
