I think this should be fixed now in 4.5.0 or the ticket should just
be closed with 'wontfix'.
A fix could be any change to the diagram that makes it more correct.
Or possibly an explanatory note under the diagram saying that the
communication paths are not depicted in an aproximate way.

The sending IMMND (at any node) sends the message to the active IMMD, which
adds a sequence number to the message and then forward it over MDS broadcast,
to all IMMNDs. The IMMD may also retain the message and replicate it to the
standby, to allow re-sends of messages if the MDS broadcast fails or is
incomplete.
There is no path showing a request going from IMMND on any node to active IMMD.
