** [tickets:#350] ntf: Reuse of allocated notification of less size than
initially allocated fails.**

**Status:** unassigned
**Milestone:** future
**Created:** Mon May 27, 2013 08:56 AM UTC by Praveen

Migrated from http://devel.opensaf.org/ticket/616.
The whole structure allocated by using the saNtf<notificationtype>Allocate will
be sent to the consumer even if the size parameters are changed to a lesser
value.
Reference back to the user allocated notification needs to be saved in
the internal structure to get the changed size parameters.

â– priority changed from major to minor

This problem is discussed in saforum (issue 191) and not yet decided. The
conclusion might be that this is not an error. Therefore the priority is
lowered.

The NTF A.04.01 released under the Artistic License clarifies how to reuse a
notification, see link below.

Reuse is only possible for a notification of the same or less size. To be able
to indicate not used fields several enums has been updated with "not provided"
values. So saNtf.h needs to be updated.
