DTM currently does not support NAT. DTM sends the private IP address in a
message to other nodes. If one of these other nodes is not in the private
subnet, when they try to use this private IP address, they cannot reach the
other node, so the connection times out.
We can use either use recvfrom() to get the public IP address, or we can pass
the public IP address in the message.
