Hi Jim, Anders has already explained saAmfSGNumPrefInserviceSUs for 2N model. amf_objects.xml also contains objects of NoRed model. For NoRed model, default value for this attribute is: "the number of the service units configured for the service group".
The attribute saAmfSGNumPrefAssignedSUs is applicable to only N-Way and N-Way active red models. If not configured its default value is: "the preferred number of in-service service units". AMF spec does not state their values to be same. AMF will always keep saAmfSGNumPrefInserviceSUs SUs in instantiated state. These SUs will have assignments or no-assignments at all (spare SUs). If some SIs are un-assigned then AMF will pick these spare SUs for assigning unassigned SIs with number of assigned SUs will not be crossing saAmfSGNumPrefAssignedSUs. All such attributes are discussed in chapter 3 for each red models. Also SAI-IM-XMI-A.04.01.xml from SAF Forum can be referred.
