Hi Jim,

As I know, there is no any available tool for managing imm.xml.
Ericsson has developed its own proprietary tool for configuring nodes,
applications, etc. and that tool generates imm.xml.

Zoran

Subject: Re: [users] Tools to create/modify imm.xml

Hi all,

Just a gentle reminder, I never received any response to this request.
If anyone has any information on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated.

In our particular development environment, the imm.xml files are very fluid.
We need to change them quite frequently, and looking for any suggestions and
recommendations from the OpenSAF community, on how to deal with this. It seems
like this would be a common topic across both users and developers.

Thanks.

Jim

Subject: Tools to create/modify imm.xml

Hi,

We are using OpenSAF 5.2, and have the following general questions for new
users of OpenSAF:

  1. Are there any tools available that allow for the straightforward creation
and maintenance of an imm.xml file?
  2. Are there any recommended approaches, common guidelines, or
documentation, on how to create and maintain an imm.xml file?
  3. As a consideration, one of imm.xml files is over 20,000 lines long, due
to the large number of processes that run on the node. Just a minor change
to this file can be quite burdensome. Unwinding all the SGs, SUs, SIs, CSIs,
etc., for just a single component becomes very messy.
  4. As another common example in our environment, we often find that one
particular application is behaving badly, so we just need to remove it from the
imm.xml, and verify that everything else comes up ok. And then, when we are
ready, we add the buggy one back in. This type of change occurs quite
frequently, as new capabilities and features are added. What is the
"recommended way", based on OpenSAF user experience, to accomplish this task?

Thanks

Jim
