My code mimicked openssl. So if more extended pin retrieval mechanisms would be used, we should have to agree on the usability questions (type and syntax of command line arguments we shall support). Also it changed the way interactive pin asking took place (what has bugs in current implementation, see #73 for example). The mandriva patch can be applied as a fix right now, but I dropped the whole patch for some reason - i believe it had some changes that would need moderate review and design before just patching. I would suggest to create a ticket for this feature and solve many of the PIN issues together by fixing at least this new ticket and #73, but possibly also #99.
