Hi,

Hello,

the works of smart card software is confusing, so many open source
project. what do you think: shall we start a wiki where we list
each software, describe what it does, link to it etc?

That would be great.
I sometime discover new smart card applications/programs (like the
pkcs11-helper from Alon Bar-Lev) that could have helped me.

maybe also
list which distribution ships what (currently we track that
in some wikis in the OperatingSystem page).

Why not. But that may be hard to maintain up to date.

not sure if wiki is the best technology for that, but it is something
I have experience with (see all our trac wikis for each project),
so that would be my natural first choice. suggestions for alternatives
are still welcome.

I like wikis. They are very simple to edit and improve.

I propose to use a different wiki page for each different project so
that it is easy to link to a particular project page and cross
reference the projects.

also help in structuring such a collection of knowledge and all that
would be very welcome. or simply: what kind of information would you
expect in a smart card howto?

Using on wiki page per project we could have different indexing
methods. But manually maintainer indexes is time consuming. We could
use a classification like:
- mail security
- file security
- system authentication
- web authentication
- misc
