Does the opensc-debug contain some hint that something went wrong ?
nothing went wrong from an opensc point of view. the card used a 2048bit key and thus returned a 256 byte signature. no idea why the old opensc code would return a smaller signature. openssh does not accept a signature of 256 bytes, if I understand this correctly.
