yes. and on windows you can do the same (.dll instead of .so, the rest the same), but can use a registry key instead of an environment variable, if that helps. google "pkcs11-spy" and the first hit is: http://www.opensc-project.org/opensc/wiki/UsingOpensc with all the details.
