On the contrary, comparing the speed of two cars is *exactly* like comparing the speed of two smart cards. Because a second and the tools to measure time (and distance) are universally agreed upon. Comparing the speed of a solar powered electric car and a 6L V8 machine, does it make sense? Sure it does, because you get the difference of speed (the time it takes "to get from A to B").
