Many thanks for your quick and detailed answer.

Having confirmation that opensc doesn't support Aladdin eToken Pro 72k
Java, I have successfully switched to using pcsc-lite with interface
handler and pkcs11 api implementation provided by Aladdin.

Maybe I will try using more "free software" solution, like the ones you
have listed, in the future
