Hello,
The slides that I used for the talk about OpenSC on the EEMA conference are
available online [1]. Comments, questions and general bashing welcome. I hope
the talk made more sense than the accompanying slides I put together last night.
Douglas, special thanks for work on PIV were sent to you from Jim Dray from
NIST, I think you deserve most of the "thank you for the work on OpenSC, it
enabled me to use PIV on Linux in about 5 minutes"!
The overall theme of the conference has been "3rd generation, cloud based
identity". The problem with electronic identity conferences (if you remove the
technical security bits) has not changed much IMHO, a few years ago it was all
about "user centric identity" (OpenID, MS CardSpace etc). Today the conceptual
base model is still not fixed and many presenters talk again about
philosophical aspects of identity ("No one knows you're a dog") and a lot of
buzzwords like "federated identity", "trust assurance", "credential sharing",
"trust", "cloud based identity", "multi-vendor identity", "cost-effective
TCO/ROT" and other BINGO! material :-)
Also, Italians seem to get their act together and have improvements on Italian
eID card(s) code in OpenSC, lets see when and how this will appear on
opensc-devel.
Cheers,
Martin
