I have a Linux user that I'm trying to get working with OpenSC. However, according to my logs, C_GetSlotList() is finding 0 slots. I'm unable to reproduce this problem on my own Linux box.
The user claims the smart card reader is plugged in and working properly in Firefox/Thunderbird: Bus 004 Device 012: ID 058f:9540 Alcor Micro Corp.
