Hey guys,

I just read you search for a way to use OpenSeaMap on iPad.

Basically there are three ways I know, one of them is supported well, the
others not so well.

1) Use the OpenSeaMap App for iPad
2) Use another App which can download & display maptiles from tileservers
3) Use the website openseamap.org

Alternative 1 is recommended, the OpenSeaMap app downloads only those tiles
needed and caches them on the device. This serves the purpose to minimize
load on our map-tile-servers and at the same time keep your maptiles current
and uptodate. Caching also minimizes the amount of date you need to download
on the device and speeds up accessing the map during normal use.

Alternative 2 can be realized using different apps specialized on OFFLINE
use and will need to download a LOT OF DATA to your device, even if you
choose a small area you are interested in there are about 13 zoom-levels of
this area you need to download. It will create a huge load on ours servers
when you download all these map tiles.

Alternative 3 may not be superior to the other two alternatives but may
serve your purpose better if you need more than just the sea map, e.g. also
weather, port infos, AIS, etc.

Best,
Helge
