Greetings. I am trying to pick a framework that I can settle down with for a while. My current choices are Performer 3.2.2 ($675 for a single license), Open SceneGraph, and OpenSG. I'm investigating the latter two now. There does not seem to be much activity surrounding Performer, though OpenSG is largely based on it.
My application is a math-model that iteratively drives construction of a large corresponding 3D graphical model. I want to be able to fly through and around the model, with various modes of coloring and opacity to aid visual extraction of features. I"m currently using Jun OpenGL in Visualworks, a flexible and easy to use tool, but lacking in performance. At this point I am most concerned about show-stopping bugs present in the three frameworks. I want to know mostly what is wrong or problematic with each framework, and when (or whether) the problems are going to be fixed. Suggestions are welcome.
