Hi everybody,

I've been playing with volume data lately, and it's been bothering me
that it gets pretty big. It compresses nicely most of the time, but to
load it it had to be decompressed.

Not any more. ;) The DAT image loader now can handle gzipped volume data
automatically (thanks to the ZStream). Hope it helps some of you.

Note that this only applies to space on disc and loading time, not to
space in memory or texture memory. For that you can use DXT-compressed
textures (those work for volumes, too), but at a quality cost.

Hope it helps

        Dirk
