an than there was cygwin ;-). The main problem is we never really said
what is the supposed behavior we just tried to allow everything
everywhere and fix problems as they came up. So I would be confused
if my 'setenv MY_DEMO_DATA_FILES m:/c/globaldata/m' would not work 
anymore, but anyway the chance that somebody complains might be 
1 / (population earth) ;-), so it might not be that much of a
problem ;-).

IIRC it is actually not wrong, windows (as we love it) allows both
ways ;-)

PS: To make it complete D:mywonderfulldir/mywonderfullmodel.wrl should
    be a valid path too ;-)
