Hi everybody,
as some of the old hands may remember, we used to have a developer list.
But effectively everybody was cross-posting everything to both lists, so
except for increasing traffic it didn't really serve any purpose. So I
just shut it down. It's still there, but it's hidden and nobody is
posting to it.
Instead I added a core list, only for people with CVS write access. It
was meant to be used for CVS housekeeping that everybody who doesn't
have CVS write access doesn't care about.
However, that has changed recently. As you know, OpenSG 2.0 is in the
works, and there are major discussions about what to do and not to do
with it. These might be interesting to some of the users, but probably
not all of them (if you've never looked into the core of the OpenSG
source code, or if you did and turned away in horror, this is probably
not for you ;). But for some of the more seasoned users we would be
interested in your comments, if you have any. That's why we've decided
to make the core list publicly accessible.
I just want to prevent the effect that we had with the developer list.
Don't post a question on the core list just because it wasn't answered
immediately on the users list. Everybody on the core list is also on the
users list, so if it's not been answered there, it won't be answered
here. As a principle, we won't answer questions concerning OpenSG 1.x on
the core list. However, if you want to add something to a 2.0 design
discussion, you're more than welcome to.
Yours
Dirk
