After fiddling with it for a few days, I must say that I'm impressed.
Disregarding the few small quirks that I've already whined about a bit
it works splendidly.
Great work!
Thomas: your idea with separate viewport worked out fine. (And, I do not
clear depth, as I always draw it at depth 0 when I have no overlap.)
